SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A couple from Susquehanna County have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft charges after taking money from a volunteer fire company.
Investigators say while William and Elizabeth Corter served at the Elk Lake Volunteer Fire Department, they spent nearly $2,800 in department funds and used it for themselves. They were charged in 2022.
At the time, William Corter was the fire chief, and Elizabeth Corter was the treasurer.
They face up to five years in prison when they're sentenced later this month.
