Parkfest continues despite rain

The rain didn't keep folks in part of Susquehanna County from a community celebration.

CLIFFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — It rained, and it poured, but not enough to keep people away from Clifford Township's Parkfest in Susquehanna County.

"Yes, but it stopped now, so don't be afraid to come out. The crowd is starting to come back. The worst is over. Joe said it'd be like this," said Barry Searle, Clifford Township Supervisor.

Clifford Township has had no shortage of rain lately.

This was the scene in the rural township last month when severe flash flooding caused an estimated half-million dollars in damage and flooded the festival's parking area.

The township busied itself with repairs ahead of the annual Parkfest.

"There was never any chance that we were not gonna have it," said Searle.

More than 70 vendors and local organizations greeted attendees under tents.

Inside the nearby municipal building, the Frank Littlebear and the Red Vision Dance Team immersed a crowd in the region's indigenous history.

"One of the things that we capitalize on as a dance team and educational group is that we can go out and do different types of performances on native american cultures. Not only of our tribe but of different nations that we've learned about and learned from," said Frank Littlebear, performer and lecturer.

It rained. It poured. But it was not quite a washout.

Parkfest wrapped up around 5 p.m. Saturday in Susquehanna County.
