FOREST CITY, Pa. — A member of the Forest City Borough Council has been sentenced on fraud charges in Susquehanna County.
Amy Bean, 41, was sentenced on Wednesday after illegally receiving more than $60,000 in medical and food assistance in Forest City.
Bean applied for SNAP and Medical Assistance benefits through the Susquehanna County Assistance Office in February 2016, reporting her household was herself and three children. It was later discovered Bean failed to report the residency and income of the children's father, who had been living with them since 2016.
Bean admitted to receiving benefits she was not entitled to from March 2016 to February of 2021.
She will spend up to nearly two years in prison on fraud charges.
