Man dies after being shot by state police in Susquehanna County

The deadly confrontation happened Wednesday evening near Union Dale.

SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Authorities are investigating after a man was shot and killed by state police in  Susquehanna County.

State police say someone reported a suspicious vehicle at Lewis Lake in Herrick Township, near Union Dale, before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say Joseph Rothka of Jefferson Township pulled a firearm on troopers from his vehicle.

Troopers opened fire, killing Rothka.

No troopers were injured.
