SELINSGROVE, Pa. — It's the busiest time of the year for retail stores and other businesses. Customers moving up and down the aisles, picking up last minute thanksgiving food items at Weis Markets in Selinsgrove

"Fresh turkeys just came in on Monday, and we're ready for our customers, we're ready to offer them more choices and options and to also get them in and out, here in this store in selinsgrove all of our registers are manned and we have multiple self-checkout units as well," said Dennis Curtin, Weis Markets spokesman.

An increase in foot traffic is a part of the hustle and bustle of last minute holiday grocery shopping.

"A lot of people get their orders done over the weekend but Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, yeah there are a lot of people who are shopping for Thanksgiving," said Curtin.

Newswatch 16 caught up with customers to see what last minute items they need to complete their Thanksgiving dinners.

"We need more fruit for the fruit tray, we have everything else—all the turkeys, chickens, and hams," said Stephanie Carey, Middleburg.

"I need sausage for breakfast tomorrow morning, flour for the rolls to make, bananas, orange juice, and eggs, and chocolate chips, aside from that just about everything is at home," said John Lydic, Selinsgrove.

Customers looking to save a few extra dollars can do so by using their reward points.

"And if you have enough, it qualifies you for a free turkey or a ham, also you can get a discount with your extra points," said Curtin.

"We have extra points to spend on a turkey so might as well get a free turkey and store it in the freezer for another time to cook it up and enjoy," said Robert Beierschmitt, Selinsgrove.

For those who need items in a pinch, Weis Markets in Selinsgrove will be open Thursday until 3pm.
