SELINSGROVE, Pa. — In just a few days, the outside of Gilson Snow will be transformed into a winter wonderland.
"There's going to be a ton of food vendors, craft vendors, of course all of your favorite craft breweries, wineries, distilleries," Gilson Snow Director of Events Vanessa Venios said.
Gilson Summer Snow Day is this Saturday. It's a free event for people of all ages. One of the highlights? Gilson brings in real snow for people to snowboard! It's the seventh year for Summer Snow Day, the first in its new location in Selinsgrove.
"Everybody in the community has just been so incredible and so welcoming. We're so excited to be here in Selinsgrove and to be welcomed in as part of the community," Gilson Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Mikowski said.
In November of 2022, Gilson's factory was destroyed by fire. The ski and snowboard manufacturer moved into this building last August. Production started two months after that.
"It was so neat to see everybody and how positive they were and in turn to see this factory come together, to see the snowboards and skis that are coming out of here. It's just incredible," Mikowski said.
Organizers say this year's Summer Snow Day will welcome the community to its new location.
"We're also going to be offering free factory tours so if you want to come on out and learn more about how Gilson skis and snowboards are made, Nick Gilson will be here as well as the entire Gilson team and we're excited to showcase our new factory," Venios said.
Gilson Summer Snow Day is this Saturday from 2-6pm at the factory's location in downtown Selinsgrove. The event is free, but you do need a ticket. VIP ticketholders get in an hour early.
