SHAMOKIN DAM, Pa. — It's almost time to go trick-or-treating. Halloween is almost here, and people are putting the finishing touches on their costumes.
Destiny Johnson and Laura Schweinebraten are best friends from Shamokin. They know exactly who they want to be.
"She went on TikTok, and she was scrolling through just getting ideas, and the Ghost Face and Sydney one just caught my eye," Destiny Johnson said.
"I'm doing Sidney, and my best friend is doing Ghost Face," Laura Schweinebraten said.
Scream is a popular movie, but these two are running into a big problem with their costume idea.
"We've got to go get a mask, I know that much," Schweinebraten said, adding that she has been unable to find one.
Summer Goodling ran into the same problem. She was shopping at Spirit of Halloween in Shamokin Dam for her 7-month-old daughter Novalee.
"We were looking for a cow costume, but they didn't have any. They did a couple weeks ago when we came, but we waited too long," Goodling said.
Luckily, Novalee has a backup costume for her first Halloween.
"We do have one at home. We have a Dumbo costume. We might just use that," Goodling said.
Chelsea Scholl and her daughter had better luck. They found what they were looking for.
"A sexy cop!" Chelsea Scholl said.
As for Destiny and Laura, they're shopping around for that mask. But even if they don't find it, they plan on having a good time.
"We live in Shamokin, so we're going to hand out candy on my front porch," Schweinebraten said.
"It's just fun seeing little children get happy and excited for candy," Johnson said.
