SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — A new sign is up on Charles Street in Schuylkill Haven for the Plain n' Fancy Donut Shop
The reopening of the donut shop comes after the previous owners closed the shop after 60 years in 2022.
A staple during the childhoods of many people in Schuylkill County, they are just glad it's back.
"Oh yes! I love their sticky buns. Their donuts are good, but their sticky buns are super." said Esther Breslin of Cressona.
And the new owner, Tiffany Youst, is excited to bring the staple back.
She says her mission is to stay true to the authentic donut recipes of the previous owners, while also expanding the menu with some new items like this pretzel pizza.
"They only had donuts before and just regular coffee. So, we have specialty coffee now, um lattes, cold brew, cappuccinos, espresso." said Youst.
The general manager says the new donut shop even kept some of the equipment from the original Plain 'n Fancy Donut Shop.
Mike Miller, the general manager of Plain 'n Fancy Donut Shop says the previous owner, Lanny who retired when she closed the shop in 2022, agreed to lend a helping hand whenever she can, for bakers to perfect recipes. Both Mike and new owner Tiffany also grew up on Plain 'n Fancy Donut Shop donuts.
"It became just a part of the lifestyle by the family I grew up with it would be a staple to get donuts on a Saturday, Sunday from Plain 'n Fancy." said Miller.
"Yes, so my son wasn't a big cake person, but he loved donuts so he would get donuts for his birthday instead of cakes so we would come and get them." said Youst.
Customers also now have a seating area inside the shop.
Tiffany says she looks forward to her bakers perfecting each recipe and making new childhood memories for plain n fancy donut shop customers for generations to come.
