SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. — A 24-hour donation drive is underway to help nonprofit organizations around Schuylkill County.
"We thought it was a great opportunity for nonprofits to help themselves to get online donations instead of soliciting for donations through the mail," said Amanda Campbell, Schuylkill Area Community Foundation Exec. Director.
Amanda Campbell is the executive director of the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation. This is the fifth year the nonprofit is running the "Schuylkill Gives" fundraiser.
"This year we're really excited because we have 35 participating nonprofits, so they register to participate in March, and they are able to collect donations and contributions within this 24 hours," added Campbell.
One of the recipients is "Servants to All," a non-profit that provides emergency services to the homeless and at-risk individuals in Schuylkill County.
"This is one of our only fundraisers that we do throughout the year through an online social media-based program," Jeanette Trianosinn, Executive Director at Servants To All.
The money raised during this fundraiser is critical.
"What we provide to our clients is done by means of donations, so when we have individuals, churches, businesses that make contributions to us, that helps us to provide all the essential services that we provide on a daily basis," added Trianosinn.
Over the past four years, the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation has raised over $235,000 for nonprofits through the Schuylkill Gives online fundraiser. You have until Thursday at noon to donate.
