TREMONT, Pa. — State police in Schuylkill County on Sunday blamed a tractor-trailer crash that badly wounded a New Jersey truck driver on his excessive speed.
Rene Fernandez Rivera, of New Brunswick, took a left turn on Gold Mine Road in Tremont Township too quickly Friday at 9:40 a.m. and flipped his Volvo VNL on its side.
The truck slid off the road and hit a utility pole, embankment and tree, state police said.
Ferdnandez Rivera, 46, was rushed to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
State police said they issued him a citation for careless driving.
