New life for an old bridge in Schuylkill County

The bridge was built in 1894 and originally crossed over the Schuylkill River.

ST CLAIR, Pa. — PennDOT hosted a ribbon cutting at the renovated bowstring truss bridge Tuesday morning.

The bridge was built in 1894 and originally crossed over the Schuylkill River.

Two years ago, the bridge was removed and taken to a blacksmith for repairs.

The bridge was fixed up and then placed over Mill Creek in St. Clair.

The bowstring truss bridge will now be used as a pedestrian bridge for the Schuylkill River Greenway's Schuylkill River Trail.
