POTTSVILLE, Pa. — After months of fundraising, the city of Pottsville has surpassed their goal by raising $40,000 for new Christmas lights.
Businesses and community members worked together to help replace the previous lights that were 25 years old.
"So that's our busiest time of the year in retail. People come downtown, they shop local, they support us, and it just makes it look better and gives it that old-time feel," said Joseph Drasdis, Pottsville Business Association President.
With the surplus of money, the city plans to use the additional funds to invest in a sparkling banner people will see as they drive through Pottsville.
