Mothers asking for help two months after deaths of teens

Newswatch 16's Chelsea Strub spoke with frustrated family and friends who demonstrated in Pottsville on Tuesday.

POTTSVILLE, Pa. — Parents have been waiting for a sense of justice and answers in the murder of their children since October 10. They are trying to spread the word that anyone with information to move the case should speak out.

Justice for 16-year-old Angelito Caraballo and 19-year-old Hunter Mock brought demonstrators to the Schuylkill County Courthouse in Pottsville on Tuesday.

"The family is not getting (anything). So, I just pray for them every day and all that support them come out here and help them and all that so that they could get some answers," said Barbara Doyle, a family friend.

In October, state police discovered the teens were killed and left in the woods.

Seven search warrants shed some light on what could have been their final moments. But still, two months later, no arrests have been made in the case, which makes a tragic, emotional experience even worse for Caraballo's mother, Tanya Evans.

"I know it takes time. I actually am talking to another mother that I found in a group that's not even from this state. It took six months for her to get her arrest for her son that was murdered as well," Evans said.

The mother of one of the victims tells Newswatch 16 she feels very supported by law enforcement during this time. That's not what this protest is about. Instead, this public demonstration is about convincing people who have information needed to make an arrest in this case to come forward.

"I just want them to know that they cannot be scared," Evans said.

"It's got to come to an end and all that so they could rest and also enjoy their holidays and all that because when you have heart and all that, you know your family and your love is gone," Doyle said.

The lack of arrests adds to the frustration felt by these families and friends who are still trying to grieve the loss of a child. They tell Newswatch 16 they will stand out here with these signs and T-shirts until someone comes forward.

"I just want the people to know what happened. They know information. I want them to come forward and not be scared to do so," Evans said.

State police tell us they have no updates to report on this ongoing investigation.
