POTTSVILLE -- Usually, when a building is up for auction it ends when the highest bidder makes a down payment.
That didn't happen when Maroons Bar and Grill in Pottsville hit the auction block a few weeks ago.
The highest bidder was a man from New Jersey, but he decided to back out of the deal.
The place was offered to the second highest bidder, but he didn't want it anymore either.
The third time was the charm for the sale. It was finally sold for $115,000 to Peter Russo.
People in Pottsville weren't surprised that buyers were backing out.
"I wouldn't want to go into a place and put that much money back into it. That place needs work done to it already," said Alfred Bley of Pottsville.
Maroons closed back in January. Bley lives right near the place and he says he doesn't know what someone can do to make Maroons successful again.
"I just think the people in this town isn't booming like it used to."
People hope the new owner of the building keeps the same old feel. Residents think of Maroons as part of the city. It's even on the sign when you drive in.
Charlie Ramos says the city needs a sports bar with good beer. Especially since Pottsville is home to America's oldest brewery.
"Everyone drinks Yuengling outside of Pottsville. When they come, they want to see a beautiful town," said Ramos.
Newswatch 16 tried to contact new owner, but our calls weren't returned.
