Crash involving aggressive driver leaves at least one dead in Schuylkill County

Police have not yet clarified which person, or how many people in total, died after that crash around 7:30 p.m. Friday near Minersville.

SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. — A two-vehicle crash in Schuylkill County on Friday night was deadly.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. along Sunbury Road (Route 901) in Cass Township, near Minersville.

State police at Frackville say a vehicle was traveling north on Route 901 and failed to negotiate a right-hand curve while trying to overtake multiple other vehicles.  The driver was speeding excessively. 

That driver then hit another vehicle that was headed in the opposite direction. It was a head-on collision. 

Both vehicles were badly damaged in the wreck.

The driver of the first vehicle was not hurt and was able to walk out immediately after crashing.

The driver of the vehicle he crashed into and its two passengers were left with severe injuries. 

The driver of that second vehicle was removed from the wreckage and treated by first responders.

The two passengers were both taken to the hospital. 

Police have not yet clarified which person, or how many people in total, died.

Troopers will share more information after next of kin are notified.

So far, there is no word about whether criminal charges will be filed against the speeding driver.

The deadly crash remains under investigation in Schuylkill County.
