SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. — A Schuylkill County commissioner is being investigated after what officials are calling "serious allegations" were made.
Investigators have not released any details about the allegations against Schuylkill County Commissioner George Halcovage, saying only that the claims appear to be credible.
County officials tell Newswatch 16 they are wrapping up an internal investigation and plan to release more information in a statement sometime next week.
Schuylkill County Republican Chairman Dan Daub issued this statement:
"While I have not seen the actual allegations, only what is being reported, however, they do appear to be credible. The Republican Party does not condone, tolerate, or accept any type of sexual discrimination at all. If these allegations are true, I would strongly encourage Commissioner Halcovage to resign."
