PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Many people in our region were affected by the strong rain on Wednesday.

According to UGI, 1,213 total are without power. Most are from Harvey's Lake and Lake Township. PPL reports outages from the Berwick/Nescopeck area.

Here are the numbers of homes and businesses without power in each county in our region after 8:30 p.m:

Carbon 11,945

Lackawanna 538

Luzerne 3,290

Monroe 8,492

Northumberland 2,578

Schuylkill 11,106

Snyder 1,715

Wayne 1,036

If you lose power, PPL recommends:

•            Be mindful of the charge on your phone and devices.

•           Assume downed wires are energized.

•            Keep food, water, medication, and pet supplies in an emergency kid.

•            Flashlights are safer than candles.

•           Do not operate a portable generator in an enclosed area, like a garage, where carbon monoxide fumes can accumulate.

•            Keep a safe distance from PPL crews.
