PIKE COUNTY, Pa. — Emotions were raw at the Blooming Grove State Police Barracks in Pike County after a vigil was held for Corporal Bryon Dickson, who was killed by a gunman ten years ago at the barracks.
Dozens of people gathered in front of the barracks for the tenth anniversary of the ambush. Throughout the vigil, members of the audience held candles, bagpipes played, troopers on horses stood in attendance, and a helicopter flew by.
"We talk a lot about family in the Pennsylvania state police, and we mean that we don't forget our family, so we're here to memorialize Corporal Dickson, and we stand with his family, and we remember what a good and decent man he was and to look to the future," said George Bivens, Lt. Col. State Police.
For the tenth anniversary, Trooper Alex Douglass was also in attendance, marking the first time he's been at the annual vigil.
