PIKE COUNTY, Pa. — It may look like a run-of-the-mill roofing job, but this project is special.
Henry Kroposki is a United States Air Force Veteran. He's lived at his home in Milford Township for more than 40 years. His wife, Sandy, says the roof needed a lot of work.
"Back when Superstorm Sandy hit, a tree fell on the other side of the house and there was a hole over there, it was bad," said Sandy Kroposki.
"That's quite a while ago now. So that is what we did; we went and fixed it temporarily until we found this way out of it," explained Ronald Dibble.
Ronald Dibble is a friend of Henry's and a member of the veteran's non-profit, Rolling Thunder. The group was able to connect Henry and Sandy with Home Pro Exteriors.
Their crew spent the day putting a brand new roof on the house through the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Program.
"To be able to give back means a lot. We talk in roofing, we talk about peace of mind when we deliver a roof. And Henry's contributions and men and women like him, they have actually provided all of us with peace of mind through their service so to restore peace of mind for them is great," said James Klein, project coordinator with Home Pro Exteriors.
That peace of mind is priceless for Henry and Sandy.
"I'm overwhelmed with gratitude; my heart is just busting. I could have never afforded this, I had to quit my job to take care of Henry so there was no way we could have afforded this on our own," said Kroposki.
Since 2016, the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Program has helped nearly 500 veterans.
