Enjoying the fall-like weather in Pike County

Newswatch 16's Emily Kress found some people in Pike County enjoying the fall-like weather after weeks of summer heat.

PIKE COUNTY, Pa. — People are hitting the trail at Dingmans Falls near Dingmans Ferry, but for this time of year, the temperatures don't seem to match the date on the calendar.

On Monday, we saw high temperatures in the 80s across northeastern and central Pennsylvania.

But people are taking the sudden drop in stride; instead of shorts and tank tops, people traded their summer clothes for "Warm, comfortable clothing, so I have layers," said Marje Bundschuh, New Jersey.

"It's a beautiful day out here; it's in the what high 60's, no humidity, no bugs," said Madelyn Mulvihill, New Jersey.

Amanda Morris from New Jersey says she comes here often with her kids to see the waterfalls, "I had to fish out some of her long sleeves, so it's just a matter of reorganizing their clothes again and getting used to keeping hoodies in the car."

Visitors tell Newswatch 16 that with the heat and humidity we've had this summer, the crisp, cool air is welcome.

"It's beautiful, brisk. It's a nice relief from the summer heat. I'm an autumn kind of girl I love the leaves the foliage so it's welcoming. I'm not sad summer is almost ending," said Morris.

"It's been so hot and humid out. It's just so nice to be outside, and it's not humid; it's just a beautiful day," said Mulvihill.

Visitors at Dingmans Falls say while they're not wishing summer away, they'll enjoy whatever weather mother nature brings.
