HAZLE TOWNSHIP -- From green parking spaces to natural light, a new distribution center near Hazleton has the Power to Save.
American Eagle Outfitters unveiled the new warehouse on Thursday. The building is bigger than 15 football fields.
100 full-time employees, along with hundreds of other part timers will soon be working at the distribution center in the Humboldt Industrial park. The company said the building was built to make it efficient and conserve energy, from the lighting to the way day-to-day operations will work.
"We have our conveyor systems that only operate when there's work to be done. Our lighting systems are all on motion sensors and we installed what's called solitudes to provide natural lighting instead of artificial lighting," said David Repp, of American Eagle Outfitters.
The green parking spaces close to the entrance are specifically for workers who carpool or drive energy-efficient vehicles.
