PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Go Joe 26 continues Tuesday morning in Northumberland County.
Meteorologist Joe Snedeker started his ride in Watsontown and continued through Milton, Lewisburg, and Danville.
Joe rode into Catawissa around noon and then headed through Rupert, Bloomsburg, Lightstreet, and Orangeville.
"You can't know the people unless you meet the people, and you don't meet people in circumstances other than this, in their real world," Joe said. "We are seeing them in front of the dollar stores and community centers, and everybody comes out."
After the morning shenanigans, Joe hopped on his bike and pedaled off.
Waiting for him at his first stop in Milton was Gregory Fleck and a big fat $8,000 check for St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton.
"My heart just feels very blessed to hear that number, and I am grateful that all these people from northeastern and central Pennsylvania come to help me," Greg said.
Greg, who has cerebral palsy, raised the money through several fundraisers, including his own annual bike ride.
"That is amazing, and that goes with what I said earlier: There is still a commitment from people like him," Joe said.
After Milton, Joe navigated through many central Pennsylvania communities before heading to Benton to end the day. Folks who came out to see him are amazed that he’s been doing the bike ride for 26 years.
Speaking of 26 years, that's how old Joe's sidekick Chris Keating is.
"26 years. Every day you have been on this planet, your diaper training, your preschool, your elementary spelling bees, your high school anatomy class, I have been doing this—26 years," Joe laughed.
Joe will finish his day in Benton, Columbia County.
The intrepid bicycling meteorologist is raising money for St. Joseph's Center, a place that cares for people with disabilities and provides medical daycare and adoptions.
