Two Sisters Toy Drive helps children in need

Two sisters from Northumberland County are getting into the holiday spirit by helping other children have a merry Christmas.

WATSONTOWN, Pa. — Lilly and Alice Wallace are excited about all of the toys surrounding the tree at Watsontown Baptist Church, except none of these toys are for them. The sisters collected the toys for other children.

"I just wanted to do a toy drive because I like helping people, and I didn't want to be the only kid having a smile on my face that year," Lilly Wallace said.

Lilly, age 8, and Alice, 6, are hosting the Two Sisters Toy Drive for the third straight year. It all started when Lilly and her dad, Josh, saw a woman carrying a box of donated toys.

"Once he told me, I felt really sad, and I decided to do something about it," Lilly said.

Last year, the girls helped more than 150 children in the Watsontown area with their toy drive.

"I feel even happier every time I see a new toy because I know every new toy means more smiles at Christmas," Lilly said.

"Whenever I see some toys like right now, it makes me smile," Alice said.

The girls' parents, Josh and Lynette, are very proud.

"We're trying to instill in them a heart of giving, a heart of serving, and a heart of caring for other people. They're exemplifying it. Honestly, they're teaching us lessons," Josh Wallace said.
