MILTON, Pa. — The competition was fierce as students hammered nails, put together puzzles, and even did a dizzy bat contest at Milton Area High School for the Career and Technical Education Olympics.
"Lassoing, they're going to lasso a chair instead of an animal. For entrepreneurship, they did logo branding and penny counting, and then early childhood worked on fine motor skills, moving marshmallows into a container," organizer Amanda Smith said.
The Milton Area School District is celebrating its Career and Technical Education programs with this Olympic-style competition.
"It's just a friendly competition that we do, and it brings them all together. This is the only time that they're all in one place at one time," Smith said.
The competition gives students the chance to compete in different areas specific to their programs while allowing them to test out skills from the other programs.
"We all get to cheer along and hope that our program is the best of all Milton CTE, and it just brings us all together," Maria Painter said.
Milton has seven CTE programs.
"We have the auto, agriculture, criminal justice, construction trades, diversified occupations, early childhood, and then we also have entrepreneurship," Smith said.
The students enjoyed the Olympics.
"I think it's really creative, a fun way to get people involved and get outside the classroom," Hailey Botts said.
"I think this Olympics gives a chance for all of us to come together as one and compete and get to have a fun time," Connor McCaffery said.
