SUNBURY, Pa. — People attended the second night of the 24th annual Northumberland County Fair in Sunbury on Wednesday.
"We love it. This is awesome; I mean, doing this and seeing the kids smile, that's what does it," said Matt Reaver, Northumberland County Fair President.
For decades, many people have volunteered their time to organize the Northumberland County Fair.
"The fair was started in 2000; it started out at the All Homes Day out in Elysburg as the expo, then it moved into the Sunbury armory for a few years, and we came out here when we started to outgrow the armory."
Even now, the fair continues to outgrow its current venue at Tall Cedars Grove in Sunbury. It features more than a dozen vendors, camel rides, and petting zoos where some of the animals were raised by local students.
"The white one with brown, the mostly white one, Daisy, was born on our property. I raised her from the beginning," Rachel Morrison of Leck Kill.
"Before school, I feed my goats, take care of them. Then I go to school at eight, and I come here at three, and then I feed them," said Makayla Morrison of Leck Kill.
There is a range of food vendors at the county fair, including pizza, snow cones, and an entire stall dedicated to a local church's french fry fundraiser.
"We've been doing the french fry stand here for 20 plus years, the men's group, whatever funds we take in that are generated through this, is at the end of the year, different charities, and we'll donate that money to that," said Randall Campbell, United Lutheran Church.
The Northumberland County Fair will continue through Saturday, where a large fireworks display will conclude this year's festivities.
