Northumberland County businesses rallying around Hurricane Helene victims

Newswatch 16's Mackenzie Aucker shows us how businesses in Northumberland County are stepping in to help.

TREVORTON, Pa. — A garage near H.L. Rebuck Meats in Trevorton holds bins full of donations for Hurricane Helene victims. The business is teaming up with Back 2 Back Chiropractic owner Jamie Reed and his son to bring supplies to the Newdale Fire Department in North Carolina.

"People have reached out from as far as Texas to give us, you know, monetary donations, and so it's been a great response; we have a bunch of stuff here that people have brought and donated," Jamie Reed, Back 2 Back Chiropractic Owner.

Reed, his son, and Harry Rebuck Jr. will also be cutting and removing trees in the area while in North Carolina. Their trip begins this Friday. They're taking a truck, trailer, and an RV to stay in.

"We are used to doing that type of thing, so we're more than capable of doing it, and, you know, they have a lot of people doing the, you know, other things, as far as you know, get handing out food and things like that, so it's what we're equipped to do, and I think we'll be able to handle that and do a good job at it, so," said Reed.

Since posting on social media Tuesday, Reed says donations such as flashlights and medical supplies have been pouring in.

"Monetary donations, generators, chainsaw supplies, chainsaws, any type of bar oil or chainsaw mix."

Schools in Northumberland County are also pitching in.

"Lourdes Regional is doing a dress down day for the kids tomorrow, which is going to raise some money for the people, and Mount Aloysius is going to do something, my son who's going along, Hunter is going to school there, and they're going to contribute something as well," said Reed.

If you'd like to drop off donations, H.L. Rebuck Meats in Trevorton, Back 2 Back Chiropractic in Shamokin, and Tharptown General Store and Pizzeria in Coal Township are all accepting donations until Friday morning.
