LEWIS TOWNSHIP -- Flames destroyed a barn late Thursday night in Northumberland County, killing nearly two dozen animals.
Flames broke out just before 11 p.m. on Thursday at the barn on Rovenolt Drive near Watsontown.
Fire crews had a hard time dousing the flames because the barn was filled with hay.
Family members told Newswatch 16 that 19 steers and at least four horses couldn't escaped. Those animals died in the flames.
A fire marshal is expected to try and figure out what started the blaze.
