41st edition of Musikfest

The festival in Bethlehem continues this week, drawing in hundreds of thousands from across the Keystone State and beyond.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — From Bigfoot on the tenor sax, to national touring acts-

"They've got music to satisfy just about anybody."

Day number 5 of 11 kicked off Monday at Musikfest in Bethlehem, seeing nearly 1,500 people filling the SteelStacks venue.

From dozens of vendors to even more music acts, the festival brings in thousands from across Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania and it's become a tradition for many others.

"We've come for many years, and we enjoy it." said William Orf of Orwigsburg.

Orf and friends spent the day listening to many of the local bands.

"We thought they'd might like to come and hear the music and see the adventure." said Orf.

"It gives them a platform in the area, you know I've never heard of them before. They're from Bethlehem and they are excellent." said Jim Stauffer from Alburn, Schuylkill County.

Before he was listening to new band, Stauffer was playing at the festival.

"I lose track of time I played at the Liederplatz, acoustic guitar but mostly instrumental." he said.

But like his friends today, Stauffer would rather listen to music and be one of the thousands making a Musikfest the largest free admission festival in the nation.
