DANVILLE, Pa. — Children in Montour County got an early chance to get some Halloween candy this week.
Danville hosted its community Trunk or Treat event on Wednesday night.
Kids collected candy from more than 50 trunks outside of Danville Primary School.
It wasn't just about candy; food trucks got in on the fun too.
Organizers told Newswatch 16 that this event is about keeping kids safe while helping out the community.
"It's great, cause you know most neighborhoods, it's rare to hit 50 homes, all in one night and here they have a chance to do that and it's also there's this component of giving back to Feed A Friend. We ask for everybody to donate can goods or monetary donations towards Feed a Friend and that's what unique about it," said Hidi Horikoshi, an event organizer.
Last year's Feed A Friend campaign fed close to 500 families in the Danville area.
