Coroner: Two dead in multi-vehicle wreck in Montour County

All lanes were closed after a crash on a Limestone Township highway

MONTOUR COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATE: Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn confirmed Saturday that two people are dead.

The victims were entrapped in separate trucks that caught fire following the multi-vehicle crash. Lynn said investigators believe they know the names of the two victims, who are believed to be men, but the fires caused such damage that they must wait until an autopsy scheduled Tuesday to confirm their identities.

As for how the crash happened, Lynn said it remained under investigation by the state police.

Original story: Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that happened on Friday afternoon on Route 44 in Montour County.

All lanes are closed after a multi-crash around 2:30 p.m. in both directions between the intersection of Continental Blvd. in Limestone Township and the intersection of SR 0054 SH in Turbotville Borough.
