MONTOUR COUNTY, Pa. — A 23-year-old Williamsport woman died early Monday morning in a crash in Montour County, state police at Milton said.
The crash that killed Yainyles J. Gomez Gomez happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 80 East near mile marker 217.6 in Liberty Township, troopers said.
Officials say Gomez Gomez was a passenger in a rideshare that lost control, struck an embankment, overturned, and then hit a tree. She died at the scene.
The driver, Anthony Machi, 44, of Hughesville, suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Neither were wearing seatbelts, state police said.
It was unclear why Machi lost control of the car. State police said the crash investigation is continuing.
