EAST STROUDSBURG -- Dozens of families in need in Monroe County will have a Christmas to remember.
Workers from a pharmaceutical company in the Poconos teamed up to grant their holiday wishes.
It was nap time at Pocono Services for Children and Families in East Stroudsburg. Some kids are dreaming of what Santa will bring.
Just feet away, those holiday wishes are coming true. A box truck arrived packed with Christmas presents donated by workers at Sanofi Pasteur, a company near Mount Pocono that makes vaccines.
"We are all the elves here, absolutely, we enjoy this."
Not only were there toys inside the truck, there were some big-time items like bikes.
Parents of Head Start students made a wish list. Some asked for basics, such as a bed.
After Thanksgiving, the shopping starts.
"We love go out and take their wish list, and try to get everything on it, and then some for the surprises," explained Doris Steltz, Sanofi Pasteur.
Then came the fun part: carrying everything stuffed in that truck through the building, filling a classroom.
This year the group is helping 42 families, the most ever.
"Our previous record several years ago was 34. We have maxed out. This is tremendous. This year was just amazing," said team leader Pamela Makosky.
After about half an hour the job was done. These "elves" can return to their workshop, knowing they have given families in need a holiday filled with hope.
