SCRANTON — A former Middle Smithfield Township supervisor in Monroe County was sentenced to house arrest and probation for fraud in federal court in Scranton.
Robert Spano pleaded guilty to charges in February for a case where he received medical and dental coverage for a girlfriend he identified as his wife.
As a result, more than $24,000 was paid by taxpayers to cover health care for Spano’s girlfriend.
He received four months of house arrest and two years of probation.
