STROUD TOWNSHIP, PA — Chick-fil-A is best known for its chicken sandwiches, but the location near Bartonsville in Stroud Township hopes to establish itself as a community partner.
Come November, when you make a purchase at the restaurant, you'll be helping a charity in Monroe County.
"We always say we're in the chicken business here, but we're really in the people business, and so we want to give back to the community," said Jeremy Morris, the restaurant's managing partner.
Morris says the Nonprofit November Community Care Fundraiser came from a question: How could they partner and support the community more?
Each week in November, the restaurant will donate 10 percent of sales up to $1,500 to a nonprofit in Monroe County.
"One is all it takes to be nominated. So, the multiple nominations aren't really required. But it's great to see the support for different nominations. So, they can go to our Facebook page," Morris said. "They could fill out the link to nominate someone that maybe they think hasn't been nominated just yet, and then the month of November just come out and support us to be able to support back to those organizations."
They hope the fundraiser is a start for giving back to the community. Next year, the goal is to give back to 52 organizations, one for every week of the year.
"It was way above our expectations, but the need that there is for nonprofits and things like that in our community. They really need those things, and we're so blessed here at the restaurant from our guests, so it would be a beautiful way to give back to the community," said Morris.
Chick-fil-A has received more than 700 submissions for nearly 75 organizations for the Nonprofit November Community Care Fundraiser.
Employees at Chick-fil-A will choose the four winning nonprofits on Friday.
