STROUDSBURG, Pa. — A 17-year-old boy shot in the neck Saturday night at a convenient store in Monroe County died in a hospital emergency room and police on Sunday searched for the gunman.
The Stroud Area Regional Police Department said in a statement the shooting at Wawa on West Main Street in Stroudsburg happened just before 8:20 p.m. and started as a argument that turned physical.
During the fight, a man flashed a handgun and fired a single shot. The bullet struck a 17-year-old in the neck. The police have not released his identity.
The gunman fled the store. The police department's detective division is investigating. They asked that those who might have seen the shooting or the fight that preceded it to get in contact.
Authorities believe the shooting was an "isolated incident."
