STROUD TOWNSHIP -- A new hospital in Monroe County is gearing up to welcome patients next month. St. Luke's Monroe Campus in Bartonsville will host an open house for the public on Saturday.
It's taken more than a year but St. Luke's Hospital Monroe Campus in Bartonsville is almost ready for patients.
"We are excited to bring our inpatient care that we are known for and the rest of our patient care to Monroe County and be able to give the residents of Monroe County the option for health care," said St. Luke's Monroe Campus President Donald Seiple.
This is the first new hospital in Monroe County in 100 years.
The four-story building has 108 beds, 72 of which will open next month.
It also houses an emergency department, operating rooms, and more.
"I think it's priceless to really be able to provide the quality care that we do at St. Luke's," said vice president of patient care services Jill Dalessandro.
The idea behind the Monroe County campus actually came from area physicians, who wanted to keep their patients local and give them quality care.
Dalessandro says having easy access to physicians and practitioners is a main goal for the hospital.
"We need to keep patients here where they are close to home, where their family and friends can visit them."
"For us bringing our health care here to Monroe County, we really have received positive feedback from residents of Monroe County that they are looking forward to having options and really the high-quality option that St. Luke's is known for," said Seiple.
The hospital is scheduled to start taking in patients on October 3.
An open house will be held at St. Luke's Monroe Campus this weekend.
