MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — Voter after voter made their way into the Polk Township Volunteer Fire company on Route 209 in Monroe County to cast their ballot.
Bob Coleman hasn't missed voting in an election in 55 years.
"We have to get the best candidates we can and keep turning them over and get new ideas to run our government. That's why I believe in term limits, because I want to see good government, and local government is where it all starts," said Coleman.
Others say voting in your local election is important.
"That's just as important as the national elections because, I mean, that's where the things happen that affect you the most directly," said Larry Weingartner from Polk Township.
At the West End Fire Company's firehouse near Brodheadsville, plenty more came out to vote.
Flo Gower says the Chestnuthill Township supervisor race brought her to the polls.
"It's time for a change. So, hopefully, they make it," said Gower.
Raymond Phillips is here for the Monroe County Sheriff's race. He says voting goes far beyond being his civic duty.
"To show your interest in the area. What you could do to help change things if it needs to be done," said Phillips.
If you haven't voted or dropped off your mail-in ballot to your county's election office, you have until 8 p.m., when the polls close.
