EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — An early morning fire in Monroe County has been contained.
Crews worked to contain a brush fire that started around 5 a.m. Friday on River Road near the Delaware Water Gap in Smithfield Township after a tree fell on a pole. River Road was closed as crews worked.
30-40 acres were burned, no homes were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
Nine fire departments and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources were on the scene.
National Park Service is staying on site to put out hot spots.
