MT POCONO, Pa. — Love was in the air in Monroe County on Saturday.
A mass vow renewal ceremony was held at Mount Airy Casino near Mount Pocono. Couples were invited to participate in the Double Down on Love ceremony at the casino's event center.
Stroudsburg Mayor Michael Moreno led the couples in an "I do" redo free of charge.
Thomas Chesney of Elysburg surprised his wife, Susan Chesney, with the vow renewal for their 50th anniversary.
"It’s very special. What made it even more special is she hates surprises so I knew it would be fun," said Thomas Chesney.
Afterward, couples celebrate with a champagne toast and wedding cake. The lovebirds could also check out a free photo booth.
Casino officials say the ceremony was a nostalgic nod to the Poconos' history as the honeymoon capital of the world.
