STROUDSBURG, Pa. — A man was in court Thursday after police say he randomly attacked an older man who was walking his dog in Monroe County.
A broken bone, sore neck, and face lacerations are some of the injuries the victim suffered after he says he was attacked outside the Monroe County Courthouse in Stroudsburg earlier this month.
Adam Male, 43, from Saylorsburg, had little to say after waiving his preliminary hearing at the district court in Stroudsburg.
"Just that it's not really me, just what happened, what occurred."
Male faces assault and harassment charges for allegedly assaulting Lloyd Leap, 75, on February 5 while Leap was walking his dog outside the Monroe County Courthouse.
Leap's glasses are still scratched, which he says is just one reminder of the attack.
"I seen this person coming and grumbling, which I didn't pay any attention to, because that's normal in this area, and I'm looking down at my dog. And the next thing I know, I got blindsided and punched in the side of the face," Leap said.
People inside the courthouse at the time saw what happened and rushed to help Leap. But his injuries weren't just contained to his face.
Leap has a broken bone in his wrist, a sore neck and toe, and he's unable to sleep in his bed because of the pain.
"I never expected anything like that. I never thought anything was going to happen like that. Even though you see it on TV, in the city, or something like that. Not around here do you expect it."
Leap wasn't the only person Male allegedly attacked. Police say 15 minutes later, Male shoved another man to the ground on Main Street.
"Just be aware of your surroundings because I wasn't," Leap said. "You really have to keep a vigilant lookout for stuff like that. I don't know, it's just tough. So, I know the rest of my life has changed, and it's not for the better, that's for sure."
The Monroe County district attorney's office says more charges could be filed in the future against Male.
He is locked up at the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
