TANNERSVILLE, Pa. — People came to Big Pocono State Park near Tannersville with cameras in hand to capture the brightly colored leaves.
"It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow, so we just wanted to have a little getaway, and this was a dream destination for a long time, so we decided to come here," explained Avinash Manning from Ohio.
A lot of people had the same idea for the Columbus Day holiday.
The Osowski family from Schnecksville came to the Poconos to visit the family. The kids got to take in the view through the binoculars.
"It's amazing you can basically see like everything, you can see everything lakes, I saw cars driving on the highway over there, it's actually so fun," said Jace Osowski.
Vincent Jones and his six-year-old daughter also came from the Lehigh Valley to see the fall foliage.
"Me and my wife, before we had kids, we started to come up to this area this time of the year in one way or another to see the leaves since it is a cool place to see it and lots of awesome views as well," said Jones.
"I think it's very cool; it kinda looks like a bunch of flowers," said 6-year-old Madelyn.
With color at its peak in the Poconos, visitors tell Newswatch 16 that they didn't want to miss the spectacle.
"It's just breathtaking, peaceful, serene, and something I don't know. It's hard to explain," said Manning.
"It's beautiful. It's cool to see the outlooks and the views, but also to go into the woods and see the leaves on the ground. It's very beautiful," said Jones.
