Fire destroys restaurant in Monroe County

Flames at Yusan in Stroud Township started around 12:30 a.m.

STROUD TOWNSHIP, PA — Crews were called out early Monday for a fire that destroyed a restaurant in Monroe County.

Flames started around 12:30 a.m. at Yusan restaurant on North 9th Street (Route 611) and Bridge Street in Stroud Township.

Video from the Stroudsburg Fire Department showed flames roaring from the place.

Firefighters said nearby buildings received minor smoke and heat damage.

No one was hurt.

There is no word on the cause.

The restaurant owners posted on Facebook that they plan to rebuild.

The Stroudsburg Fire Department is home following a restaurant fire early this morning. Crews were called to assist Stroud Township Fire Around 12:30 this morning for a well involved fire at Yusan Japanese Restaurant at the corner of N 9th Street and Bridge Street in Stroudsburg. Responders encountered intense smoke and fire, and maintained a defensive operation. Adjacent buildings received minor smoke and heat damage. No injuries were reported.
