MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — Voters lined the halls of the Monroe Couny Administration Building in Stroudsburg. Everyone here is requesting a mail-in ballot. It's the last day to apply for one ahead of election day.
"I'm very happy to see this many people today," said Ashley Gesslein of East Stroudsburg.
"What they do is come in and fill out an application, and then what we do is take that application and a driver's license, and we go through and check it with the state," said Commissioner John Christy.
Then, the ballot is processed, and voters wait for their names to be called to pick it up.
"Thanks, that only took a half hour," said one voter picking up a ballot.
Voters can fill out their ballot on the spot. Next stop, the drop box. Voters tell Newswatch 16 despite the crowds of people, it was a quick and easy process.
"I believe the day of is going to be chaotic and I feel this way is more safer and you know just get that vote in there that is what counts," said Gesslein.
"I want to make sure my vote is counted and that we have free, fair, and accurate elections," said Greg Perlman of Saylorsburg.
Officials with the Monroe County Election Board say don't worry if you haven't received your mail in ballot just yet. Staff are still processing those requests.
"We are mailing ballots out every day, we have ballots that went out today. Give it some time but realize, we are here to help," explained Commissioner Christy.
All of the ballots put in the drop boxes will be counted on Election Day.
