Pink Light Walk held for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Dozens took to the streets of Monroe County on Thursday for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — People came together to walk the streets of Monroe County for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Walkers decked out in pink and went from East Stroudsburg University to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Thursday afternoon. 

The annual Pink Light Walk raises awareness for breast cancer and honors survivors and those battling the disease.

"It's uplifting, it gives people hope, gives people encouragement to come out, and they see the survivors like us, the people that striving, they see us, and they push harder; it gives them hope to continue, to go on with the fight," said Latania Jones, breast cancer survivor.

Attendees had the opportunity to speak with local health organizations, receive educational materials, and learn about support resources available in the community.

The Pink Light Walk in East Stroudsburg also emphasizes the importance of early screening and detection for breast cancer.
