MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network (PVEN) held its annual Christmas toy distribution on Monday.
This year, the group is helping a record 170 children receive presents for Christmas.
Toys were donated by many of the churches and businesses in the Brodheadsville area, as well as Monroe County Toys For Tots.
"This year, we're serving actually 170 kids, more than any other year. Part of that is obviously there's more need. Part of it is also because we were able to partner with the local school district and get word out a little bit earlier. That was wonderful because this year we not only got new kids, but we also got to introduce some people who didn't know about the food pantry, and they're getting served as well," said Tom Campbell, president of PVEN. " There's clothing, there's food. Many of the same people who need help with those things need help at Christmastime."
Every child will also be receiving a new winter coat.
PVEN has been holding this distribution for more than 10 years.
