Businesses ready for 18th annual StroudFest on Saturday

A Labor Day tradition is back for another year in the Poconos. Newswatch 16's Emily Kress shows us what's in store for StroudFest.

STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The banners are up on Main Street in Stroudsburg, letting people know it's almost time to celebrate the unofficial end of summer with StroudFest.

"StroudFest is the largest community street festival in the Poconos," said Sarah Collier, Sherman Theater. "We just like to celebrate our local town as well as the businesses."

This is the 18th year the Sherman Theater will host the event. More than 170 vendors will line the streets. Bars and restaurants are gearing up for the crowds on Saturday. Staff at the Goat on Main say it's a fun way to get people in the door.

"We get a lot of foot traffic that comes in through that, but it's also a nice way for everyone who lives around here to get out, plus people who are still on vacay to see what the town has to offer. It's just a fun time overall," said Kyle Moucha, The Goat On Main.

StroudFest not only helps but also boosts businesses and vendors. It's also a celebration of music with plenty of live entertainment.

"So we have four different stages throughout the footprint of the festival, which will showcase local artists," added Collier.

"It's a madhouse, but in a great way, in a fun way, it's people walking around enjoying all of the music, having some good drinks and some good food. It's all in good spirits," Moucha described.

The festival is spread out from Main Street to 8th Street to Courthouse Square, where you'll find shops like Pocono Soap. The staff says it's a great day to support everything Stroudsburg offers.

"When we are supporting each other, everyone wins," said Tina Matauic, Pocono Soap. "It's so incredibly amazing having so many people coming out and being so excited about that."

StroudFest kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday and runs until 6 p.m.
