Businesses preparing for the Super Bowl in Monroe County

If you're planning to pick up takeout food for the big game, owners say the time to place your order is now.

STROUD TOWNSHIP, PA — Boxes of frozen wings made their way into the kitchen at the Original Pocono Pub near Bartonsville, but just as fast as they come in, they will go out.

"10,000 wings and about 2,200 pounds of wings, that's what's going to go out the door," said owner Rick DeFino.

DeFino expects the bar and restaurant to be very busy. In his years of running the bar, takeout orders on Super Bowl Sunday account for 90 percent of their sales.

"Super Bowl Sunday, we set up stations, and we've got the inventory, and of course, you've got to have the inventory prepped. We've done this before, and it's been quite a big volume for at least the last six years, and we're going a little bit more each year," said DeFino.

Down the street at the Philly Pretzel Factory, owner Sam Lake says several thousand pretzels will get made and sold on Sunday.

"I've been getting a lot of Kansas City and 49ers fans. I'm like, I didn't know you were around here. So, you know, it's exciting to see those fans that have been coming here, and now they're putting on their jersey, their hat, and coming and representing," Lake said.

With more than 60 orders already in the book for Sunday, Lake and his team will work long hours to ensure none are missed.

"We'll start prepping, getting all the boards in here about 4 o'clock in the morning to get everything ready and fresh for that day. You know, it's a lot of work, but it's exciting. You have to get excited like it's a game. It's the Super Bowl, and it's our game day," said Lake.

If you want to ensure you get exactly what you want, the owners of the Philly Pretzel Factory and the Original Pocono Pub encourage you to get your orders in now.
