MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — A man accused of a string of bank robberies, including one in the Poconos, has pleaded guilty to federal charges.
Damen Drakeford, 30, of Wilkes-Barre, admitted in court on Tuesday to committing four bank robberies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in July.
- Fulton Bank, Netcong, New Jersey, on July 7,
- Provident Bank, Fair Lawn, New Jersey, on July 11,
- Fidelity Bank, Upper Mount Bethel Township in Northampton County on July 11,
- M&T Bank, Stroud Township in Monroe County on July 14.
Police captured Drakeford after a chase and crash following the robbery in Monroe County. He was charged by a federal grand jury in August.
Investigators said Drakeford stole a total of $32,988 in the robberies.
Authorities said that Drakeford could face a maximum of 20 years in prison for each robbery.
