UPDATE: Wreck that closed Route 87 for hours in Lycoming County leaves man dead

The deadly wreck happened shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday along Route 87 in Plunketts Creek Township, near Montoursville.

LYCOMING COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATE:  A man is dead after crashing his car on Sunday afternoon in Lycoming County.

State police say Justin Laganowski, 23, of Hillsgrove, was headed south on Route 87 just past Little Bear Creek Road when he lost control of his Toyota Camry.

It happened just after 1 p.m.

The side of the car slammed into a guard rail and drove against it for over 50 feet, then it ran off the roadway before hitting an embankment and rolling over.

Laganowski was thrown from the car. He was not wearing a seatbelt. 

Crews took Laganowski to the hospital, where he died.

There were no passengers involved in that deadly wreck in Lycoming County.

Route 87 is back open after a one-car crash in Lycoming County.

The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday along Route 87 near Little Bear Creek Road in Plunketts Creek Township.

Officials say one person was taken to the hospital after the crash. There is no word on their condition.

Route 87 was closed for hours as police investigated the wreck. It reopened around 5 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation in Lycoming County.
