LYCOMING COUNTY, Pa. — Election Day is almost upon us, and officials at Lycoming County Voter Services are preparing for the big day. This year is mostly a local election.
"The offices you'll see on a ballot in a municipal election will be judicial, county, school directors, borough, township, and city," said Forrest Lehman, the Lycoming County director of elections.
Typically local elections do not receive the large voter turnout that Presidential elections do. But if you are hoping to vote on November 7th, you need to make sure you are registered.
"It is 15 days before the election," Lehman said. "So, it is this coming Monday, October 23rd, the last day to either register if you are brand new or if you need to make a change to your registration, like your name, address, or party affiliation."
Some mail-in ballots have already been sent out. Voters who want to vote through the mail need to request one at least a week in advance of Election Day. It's important to mail those back in a timely manner.
"Voted ballots have to be in the county office by 8 p.m. on Election Day, the close of polls. Postmarks don't count, so they have to get them in," added Lehman.
You should also know where to cast your ballot if you plan to vote in person. Precincts in Lycoming County may be different this year.
"In Lycoming County, people should definitely check our polling place list. There have been a number of changes in order to make our polling places more accessible for disabled voters," Lehman stated.
